Whilst the rest of Scotland had a break we carried on delivering! The construction trade in Scotland effectively closed on the 19th December with the vast majority of our customers off for a two week break.
We were approached by our customer, WH Malcolm, to supply a 160m3 pour incorporating 4 tons of steel fibre at the new North Ayrshire Mental Health unit on Monday 22nd Dec. Easy enough you may think but no one made any allowances for the Scottish weather.
On what was probably the wettest day for a long time, the local area saw numerous road closures, people being rescued from a supermarket in rubber boats, trains halted by flood water and numerous traffic diversions. Our hauliers, plant staff and aggregate suppliers battled on to successfully supply this floor slab and keep the project on track. A special thanks for your effort to all concerned…. at least they had 11 days to dry out !!!
