It was a wet and very windy start to RHS Chatsworth in Derbyshire last Tuesday.  CEMEX was one of the supporters of the Quarry Garden created to celebrate the Institute of Quarrying’s centenary year and a key part of the first ever Royal Horticultural Show at Chatsworth House, close to our Dove Holes Quarry.

Through the garden it is hoped to promote the positive contributions that Quarrying makes to our communities, both through the supply of vital building materials and the creation of natural habitats for wildlife.

CEMEX supplied blocks for the creation of two concrete walls and materials for the concrete ‘pit’, and during the show some of our Aggregate colleagues helped to man the stand.

The left photo shows Garden Designer, Paul Hervey-Brookes, beside the magnificent ‘Passing Light’ sculptured fissures created by artist Ann-Margreth Bohl and made from a mix of metal and local Chatsworth stone.  The right photo shows Rob Doody, Operations Director, and other supporters with the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
