The intrepid tour team from Cluster 7 have recently completed the Huddersfield-Halifax-Bradford-Leeds leg of their tour. Steve Peacock, Maintenance Planner, for Central Readymix came over the boarder to support the tour. He was determined to visit all four Plants on a testy course.
Roger Taylor takes up the story: “Steve set off from Huddersfield with Dave Roberts (Company Driver – Huddersfield Plant). They were straight into the hills which surround the area, on arriving at Halifax. Steve carried on to Bradford on his own and Dave decided to cycle back to Huddersfield. Dave, being the type of person he is, still managed to get six loads of concrete delivered that day (just to be clear this was not on his bike).
At Bradford Steve met up with Mike Livsey (Technician West Yorkshire), Mark Taylor (Transport Planner), and Roger Taylor (Operations Supervisor) for a steady ride to our Leeds Plant. Without the support of people like Steve this event would not have been a success.
We have had staff from Technical, Sustainability, Commercial, Operations, Transport Planning, Maintenance Planning, Aggregates, Cements, IHCs, a Fitter, Managers and a Director take part which have all helped to make this a success and will help to make One CEMEX.”
There are just two more legs to complete and there is still time to show your support on the Just Giving web-site:
