Last week we hosted two visits of Members of Parliament to our Marine Aggregates site at Southampton and to Raynes Quarry in North Wales. Our Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Martin Casey, always invites MPs to our major operational sites to improve awareness of CEMEX and develop positive relationships with local and national government.

The first visit (pictured above) was with Conservative MP, Royston Smith, who was elected in 2015 as member for Southampton Itchen constituency. He was able to see our Sand Heron in dock and meet Master Georgina Carlo-Paat, together with Marine Aggregates Director, Laurence Dagley.

David Hanson, the long-standing Labour MP for Delyn, who has represented his constituents since 1992, visited our Halkyn Quarry.  He was welcomed by Mick Ripley and Andy Edwards from our Operations team, and Martin Casey also joined them for a Quarry tour. After the visit David Hanson tweeted: “Good to visit @Cemex_UK at Halkyn. The product ends up in such local projects as Mersey Gateway, Holywell High School and local roads and employs 22 people”.

Martin thanked David for visiting and was pleased to show how our products are Helping To Build A Greater Britain and support local jobs.
