Andy Carey Retiring After 30 Years

Andy Carey is retiring later this month having served 30 years with the company.

Andy joined RMC in 1989 as a Graduate Management Trainee on his return from South Africa where he worked for Anglo America as a Mines Engineer for four years.  Initially he worked at the Buxton Block Plant before transferring to Raines Quarry Block Plant at Colwyn Bay.  In 1990 he took up a position as Production Supervisor in the then newly opened Washwood Heath Sleeper Plant….. little did he know he would be there nearly 30 years later!

He moved into a commercial/customer facing role in the mid-1990s and has seen many changes in our main customer who originally was British Rail before being rebranded Railtrack and then Network Rail.

Andy has celebrated his long career in rail at the Bank Restaurant in Birmingham where he was joined by several colleagues, together with his wife, Rashme, and some former friends and colleagues.  He was presented with several gifts which included a model sleeper set in a miniature station setting to keep and remind him of his long career in Rail Solutions. Happy retirement Andy!
