CEMEX announced as part of the Earth Day celebration, the reintroduction of the American bison into El Carmen Nature Reserve thanks to a joint initiative between AES Mexico, the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN), and CEMEX.

The Earth Day 2019 theme is “Protect Our Species,” with the objective of promoting the protection of endangered and threatened species. The American bison is currently on the list of endangered species in Mexico. Some of the threats that bison face for their recovery are the loss of habitat due to the expansion of agricultural developments and overgrazing by livestock.
