COVID-19 Global Safety Alert

Sadly, we are aware of nine deaths related to COVID-19 involving colleagues overseas, including both employees and contractors.  While infection rates in the UK are reducing, this is a sombre reminder of the risks we continue to face from COVID and the need to follow guidance from the Authorities and Industry Organisations, while also complying with the CEMEX COVID Protocols and local Good Practices.

Global Safety Alerts have been made available relating to two of the fatalities within the business. Please discuss them with your team, highlighting the importance of following the 4 Key Safety Behaviours that Save Lives and ask them to discuss these incidents with colleagues and family members, encouraging them to ensure they are looking after themselves and each other.

To help maintain awareness of the risks and control measures, a short online briefing has been prepared, which you may want to share with your teams, available via the following link:

Managers and Supervisors are required to review the Alerts to identify any gaps in local control measures, taking remedial action as necessary, and also display the Alerts on noticeboards.  The Alerts can be downloaded here

CEMEX Global Protocols require all Fatal Alerts to be communicated and Managers to capture the signature of employees and contractors to confirm they have received and understood the information and the control measures they need to adopt.  In addition, operations are invited to observe a one minute silence in memory of the deceased at the time of discussing a Fatal Incident Safety Alert.
