I want to share a very important message from our CEO, Fernando Gonzalez, on the subject of COVID and the impact of the new Delta variant which is much more contagious, and which is now present everywhere.

It is vital that we all stay safe from the virus and remain vigilant and disciplined as the COVID pandemic continues. It is very important that we keep following our Key Behaviours That Save Lives and particularly because the new COVID variants appear to be accelerating the contagion and transmission of the virus in the population.

I particularly ask you to consider taking the vaccination if it is available to you and you have not already done so. The medical evidence is overwhelming that the vaccine carries a low level of risk for a very high level of protection against the real and present danger of the virus. If a patient presents with the virus after vaccination there is a much greater chance that symptoms will be mild regardless of the COVID variant.

Please continue wearing a mask when close to others, maintain frequent handwashing, and avoid crowds wherever possible. Whilst this may limit some of your lifestyle choices in the short term I believe the risk of infection is still high, and the new COVID variants are more efficient at transmission – we must protect ourselves and our families.

Your health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to me, and I ask you to follow the guidance in this message. In CEMEX we have all seen colleagues, friends and loved ones become ill with COVID and we must maintain our Key Behaviours That Save Lives at all times.
