The Asphalt teams have been working hard to make simple yet impactful improvements to their operations, in order to promote better Health & Safety.

The team at Salford plant have made a series of 5S improvements to the workshop area and this includes the installation of a new ‘intelligent’ vending machine for spares and critical PPE. This machine logs the items used and then information is emailed to the Supervisors to allow for stock control. Items are automatically topped up at a set, pre-determined amount. As well as ensuring vital PPE is always available, this has also removed considerable clutter from the workshop.

• Liverpool Docklands team have added a safety net to the wedge pit, as well as attaching a rope to the water aid in case of any emergency in the water.
