A Safety Alert related to a road traffic collision was circulated last week.

In September a Truckmixer Driver working for an independent contract haulier, delivering on our behalf, was involved in a serious road traffic collision with a cyclist.  As you will read from the Alert, the cyclist suffered potentially life changing injuries and spent an extended period in hospital receiving treatment; thankfully we believe he is now back at home.

While Drivers are likely to be very familiar with the risks to more vulnerable road users, please use this Alert as an opportunity to thank them for their ongoing vigilance but remind them to:

• Remain alert to other road users at all times, especially those that are more vulnerable
• Pay particular attention to any other road users who may pass along the nearside of their vehicle
• Make full use of visibility aids and safety devices
• Avoid distractions while driving
• Always provide adequate warning if changing lanes, pulling over or moving off, and at junctions
