Chiedza has considerable experience in Social Impact, and in particular with the cement industry. Here she tells us a bit about herself:
“I am originally from Zimbabwe and moved to the UK in 2020. I am a married mother of two young boys.
Professionally, I have spent the past thirteen years managing major social community projects and executing strategies aimed at promoting long-term environmental and social sustainability within the building materials and mining sectors. I gained the bulk of my experience at Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe, a member of the Holcim group, and the largest mining company, Zimbabwe Platinum Mines Private Limited. I have extensive experience in stakeholder management and community engagement which have involved nurturing relationships/partnerships with stakeholders, communities, civil society organisations, and business.
With combined experience in developing and implementing CSR strategies in areas such as environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, health and community engagement, I find myself at ease advocating for sustainable business practices as guided by the sustainable development goals and various other frameworks which promote harmonious co-existence between organisations and the community. I have also spent the greater part of my career in corporate communications developing internal and external communication strategies collaborating across all areas of the business.
I hold an MSc in Environmental and Energy Management, a BPhil in Sustainable Development Planning and Management and a BSc in Environmental and Geographical Sciences.
From a personal perspective I am passionate about advocating for the development of previously marginalised young women and have led the development of a mentorship programme for young women. In the past few months, I have also enjoyed volunteering for Oxfam as a shop assistant because I am inspired by the work they do in developing countries.”
Welcome to CEMEX Chiedza! We are excited to work with you.
