Last week The Crown Estate carried out a visit for attendees of their Marine Management Course on board UK Marine’s CEMEX Go Innovation ship and CEMEX’s Leamouth Wharf.

The Crown Estate manages the seabed and half the foreshore around England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. They play an active role on the UK seabed in offshore energy, Marine Aggregates, and cables and pipelines.

The delegates were given their safety briefing by Captain Matt Bland and a tour of the ship by Captain Dave Pearson, and Master in Training, Tom Breen, Chief Engineer, Andy Towers and Engineering Superintendent, Ben Manfield.  Escorting the group on a tour of the Wharf was Garry Pidgley, Steven Bomber, and Richard Newbery.

Kurt Cowdery, CEMEX UK Marine, said: “We are an industry leader, it is important that we provide training and educational opportunities for our strategic partners.  It was a very successful day – well done to everyone involved.”

Kevin O’Shea, Operations/Technical Consultant, The Crown Estate Minerals and Infrastructure Managing Agent team, said: “I just wanted to say thanks to you and all at CEMEX who made today happen, and for looking after our group so well. Both the wharf and vessel tours were really informative, and I know all the delegates greatly appreciated the opportunity to see in practice what we have been learning about on the MMA course.”
