The latest Safety Alert details a high potential incident on a Readymix site where a truck pulled out of the loading bay with a hose still connected to the vehicle water tank. A Cemex visitor alerted the driver to the situation and signalled for him to stop before either the hose snapped or part of the plant structure broke away.

The Alert includes several recommendations based on a detailed investigation into this and other previous similar incidents, one of which is the use of a magnetic coupling that comes apart before excessive tension can build up in the hose; sourcing of these couplings for the Readymix operations is being coordinated centrally.
