Dan Mann, Cemex UK Corporate Affairs Manager, recently welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Mexican Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Ambassador Gertz Manero, along with the Deputy Ambassador and the Head of the Economic Unit. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the strong relationship between the UK and Mexico, and the important role that international businesses can play in supporting economic growth, driving innovation and accelerating industrial decarbonisation.

As one of Mexico’s most successful multinational companies and the largest Mexican investor in the UK, Cemex provides a tangible example of the long-standing economic relationship between the two countries. Discussions focused on the value of inward investment, the contribution Cemex makes to UK manufacturing and infrastructure, and opportunities to strengthen collaboration between our UK and Mexican operations.

A key theme of the meeting was the importance of people, skills and innovation. While Cemex does not rely on significant physical trade flows between the UK and Mexico, our business depends on the movement of expertise, technology and best practice across our global network. We discussed the benefits of closer cooperation on professional qualifications, business mobility and intellectual property protection, helping specialist engineers, technical experts and leaders share knowledge and support projects across both countries.
