Musculoskeletal Health: Looking After Your Back, Joints and Muscles

Musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, joint problems, muscle strains and repetitive strain injuries, are among the most common causes of discomfort and absence in the workplace. They can affect anyone, whether you work in an office, drive for your job or operate plant and equipment.

The good news is that small daily habits can make a big difference. Taking regular movement breaks, stretching before and after physical tasks, maintaining good posture, using correct manual handling techniques and staying active can all help reduce the risk of aches, pains and injuries.

If you’re experiencing discomfort, don’t ignore it. Early action can help prevent minor issues from becoming longer-term problems. Speak to your manager if work adjustments may help and seek advice from a healthcare professional if symptoms persist.
