Following R&D trials at The National Technical Centre, the world’s first ever 3D printed Readymix Concrete has been placed at Accrington College. This is the first steps towards delivering a 6 million scheme in 2023 that will house homeless veterans and low-income families in 46 eco-homes that can each be ‘printed’ in weeks. By replacing traditional pre-dried mortar printing medium with lower carbon Readymix Concrete, the project can be delivered more sustainably.
Huge thanks to The National Technical Centre R&D team and Damon Montgomery, and the guys at Blackburn and Chorley plant/Shipping, for being supportive and agile to help deliver multiple, successful site trial days.
