@CEMEX_UK Leading the Way as Twitter Followers Hit 10,000

Last week we attracted our 10,000th follower on Twitter.  This milestone has been reached in the last nine months (when we only had 3,000 followers) due to our content being more creative and strategic in attracting new followers.  Special mention has to go to Jamie Pickles, James Fairclough and Liz Young for their roles in promoting us on Twitter.

We have almost 100 employees actively following and tweeting themselves and together with our follower numbers, this makes CEMEX UK the leading social media company in the UK building materials industry. Other followers include customers, competitors, public organisations, charities, conservation bodies and industry figures.

You can get involved too!  The great thing about Twitter is that it’s open to all.  If you have a great work story to share or just want to follow CEMEX UK and “re-tweet” (pass on to your followers) our stories then simply log on to Twitter and follow us using the tag :  @CEMEX_UK

Twitter is a great way to share simple snippets of events/customer delight using photos and 140 characters.  It all helps to show the outside world some of the great things we are doing and build our reputation – from community lend-a-hands, our conservation on sites, road safety and customer service – and much more.

As a simple guide as to what to write – never write anything on Twitter that you wouldn’t say to someone face to face!  Just use your common sense and make sure what you write about work on your personal Twitter feed is professional.  Always use a photo.

Never used Twitter?  Not too late to start…we have put together a really simple guide for you to follow (see the download section on the UK News website).  The main thing is to be brave and have a go!

Still stuck?  Contact the UK Comms Team who will be happy to help, or use your story on the @CEMEX_UK official Twitter site.  Email: james.gregory.pickles@cemex.com or elizabeth.young@cemex.com if you need help with a great tweet.
