CEMEX France is participating alongside the global R&D team in a competition to ‘Embellir Paris’ – or embellish Paris.
CEMEX has come up with a competition entry named “L’entrepôt” located in rue Henri Desgrange, in the Bercy district.
The objective is to restore the street to reflect its former state, which was one of the largest wine markets in the world and where barrels were stored in this transit area.
Our proposal is to design about 30 concrete barrels that remind us of this history. These barrels can be used as street furniture but will also offer functions adapted to our times. They will provide drainage to store rainwater in the event of heavy rainfall; and luminescent to provide better lighting for this dark street at night. All the projects proposed are posted on the website ‘Embellir Paris’ so that Parisians and others can express their opinions on the various projects and vote for their favourite between 8th and 14th March.
