Over the weekend Stepney Readymix Team, well supported from Battersea Readymix Team, poured in excess of 950m3 of C40/50 to Laing O’Rourke at the Crossrail Liverpool Street contract. This was for the base slab which was the last structural pour below ground level, with the concrete being pumped some 40m down through a twisty line. The pour went very well, there were some issues on site with pumps but these were easily overcome.

Stephen Thorpe, Readymix Technical Manager, commented: “The pour took just over 27 hours and from our side we all pulled together to get the job done. Thanks to all the guys at Stepney and Battersea, the Technicians, and of course the IHCs. Our admixtures, aggregates, and cement colleagues all played their part as well to ensure both Readymix Plants were supplied with the necessary materials for the concrete.
