Last week CEMEX Rail Solutions hosted visitors from UPB in Latvia. UPB is a major customer of CEMEX in Latvia and is contemplating opening a concrete sleeper factory in their home country.

The European Union Rail Baltica Project plans to link Finland, the Baltic States and Poland.  The railway passes right across Latvia and will require millions of sleepers.  Our customers were able to see the complexity, skill and attention to detail that goes into making sleepers at our Washwood Heath factory.  They also witnessed the rigorous quality processes; gauging and testing that ensure every single sleeper is ready for duty in Britain’s railways.  Our visitors kindly said that they were impressed by our passion and knowledge for the product and our focus on safety.
