Two weeks after leaving school Simon secured a five year apprenticeship at the local cement company in Rugby, working on their fleet of lorries.

Fast forward 46 years to Southam quarry and Simon is retiring from a varied career, culminating in him working as Quarry Team Leader for the CEMEX cement quarries.

His Manager, John Kirby, said: “As exciting as it is for Simon to be leaving us, the day was tinged with sadness as he will be greatly missed by all the colleagues and friends he has accumulated over the years. Simon is a real gem, and his presence and lifetime of experience will be greatly missed by us all.”
