Last week Ian Phillips, Technical Manager – Aggregates, hosted a visit from Cameron Davies, Michael Jaye and Christopher Hogg to Dove Holes quarry.
Both Michael, a Technician, and Cameron, an Apprentice Laboratory Technician, are based at our National Technical Centre. They are currently studying towards an ‘Institute of Concrete Technology: Aggregates in Construction’ qualification.
Chris is currently undergoing a Business Induction in his new role as Commercial Technical Manager with Cement. All three were looking to increase their knowledge of and exposure to aggregate extraction and processing techniques.
The day involved a tour around site followed by a classroom session and there were some really good discussions and plenty of engagement throughout the day.
Mike Higgins, National Technical Manager, commented: “This site visit is an integral part of the ICT cohorts development programme. It’s fantastic that we continue to develop the technical skills of the wider team in this way, and we count on the support of the business to do this.”
