Massive thanks to Andrew Edwards, Philip Brewer and all the Halkyn team for hosting Becca Martin MS (Member of the Senedd) and Geraint Thomas (from Llyr Gruffydd MS’ office) to Halkyn quarry for an intro into our operations and a site tour.
Becca was elected as Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for Clywd in May, and this was her first visit to a quarry, giving her the perfect introduction to our industry, with us able to give her a briefing on the challenges we are facing, and the opportunities for the site and our company.
Becca said: “Great to visit Cemex Halkyn quarry at Pant-y-Pwll Dwr today and see the huge contribution it makes to Flintshire… a great example of the skilled jobs and long-standing community connections that matter to rural Flintshire – and a reminder of why we need a long-term, strategic approach to infrastructure investment in Wales.”
Building relationships with political stakeholders, of all parties, is essential to ensure we are promoting favourable regulatory outcomes, and to ensure that the elected representatives of our communities understand the valuable contributions we make to the local, regional and national economies.
