Paul Nairn Retires – Quarry Manager Cowieslinn Quarry And Coating Plant – 1979-2015

Happily for Paul and his wife, but sadly for CEMEX and especially the Management Team in Scotland and the site staff at Cowieslinn,  Paul has decided to retire from the business after 35 plus years – ‘hard labour’ is how he described it – but we know he enjoyed every minute of it!

Paul started with the business in late 1979 and his main claim to fame or so he says is that he worked with a young Lex Russell at Shiphorns Quarry and went on to teach him everything he knew!!

Drew Crombie, Area Ops Manager, wrote: “Paul was a very dedicated employee with a passion for all things Cowieslinn and his enthusiasm and knowledge will be greatly missed.  He now heads off to make a lot more happy memories alongside his wife – making the most of retirement. As he has just become a first time Grandad I am sure they will have plenty to do!”

The staff and his work mates gave him a fine send off at Peebles Golf course and the applause was led by Paul Rosie, with gifts from the company and staff.  Paul’s son, Martin, continues the family legacy as he is currently Quarry Manager at Temple Quarry.

Special thanks go to Jane Manson from Cowieslinn Weighbridge for making Paul’s night so enjoyable.
