Cemex’s Dave Hart, Mark Grimshaw-Smith and Dan Mann were recently invited to Rail Partners Westminster Reception at the House of Commons. This provided an excellent opportunity for Cemex to highlight our expertise in the sector with representations from Dave Hart, Supply Chain Director, and Mark Grimshaw-Smith, recently appointed Non-Executive Director at Logistics UK.
The reception brought together industry leaders, policy specialists, politicians, and civil servants all on the same track to discuss the challenges and opportunities for rail freight in the coming months and years. It is important that Cemex are represented given our significant investments in rail, and our growth strategy for the industry. Making the case for a means of transporting significant volumes of materials in both a safe and sustainable way, which also enables growth across every region of the UK and facet of the economy is a priority for Cemex’s political engagement efforts, therefore it’s important for us to be represented at these events.
All major parties were represented which was an excellent sign of the political recognition of cross-party consensus and long-term strategy needed to deliver investment and growth in the rail freight sector.
