Stuart Keighley rides off into the sunset.…

Last week Stuart Keighley retired from CEMEX after nearly 40 years’ service.  A stalwart of the company, his knowledge, friendliness, cycling antics and light-hearted competition to be in every edition of Cemexpress will be greatly missed.  The company will seem a quieter place without him…

Stuart first joined Readymixed Concrete in his University industrial year in 1978 and then rejoined in 1980 on the Graduate Technical Programme.  After a year working in Saudi Arabia he came back to the UK in Technical Services and then moved to the Southern Aggregates business as Sales Manager. In 1994 he moved to Scotland as Director General Manager of Scottish Aggregates and moved again for a period as Director at Northern Aggregates.

In a reorganisation bringing Readymix and Aggregates together in 2003 (known as Project Rock), Stuart moved down to the West Midlands as Area Director.  Soon after this RMC was acquired by CEMEX and Stuart took on a number of Regional Director posts, had a 4 month spell in the USA on a Commercial Aggregate Project and then headed up the reorganisation to set up a single Readymix Customer Centre in Rugby.  As our Customer Centricity Agenda developed,  Stuart focused more and more on improving our Customer Service and within the last 3 years has been supporting our Digital Transformation with the deployment of CEMEX Go and CRM.

Stuart has fond memories of over 40 years association with the Company “ I am very thankful to everyone who has worked with me over the years and all the great opportunities I have had with the Company.  They have looked after me very well and I enjoyed so much support and so many laughs I could not have asked for more.  I’m especially excited for the future because I can see the forward thinking and commitment to moving CEMEX into a digital era despite the fact that Readymix and Aggregates are essentially the same when I started over 40 years ago.”

Stuart kicked off his retirement with a surfing holiday in Cornwall….no doubt the first of many adventure filled activities.  Thank you Stuart, we wish you well, and have a long and healthy retirement.
