Thanks For Your Efforts As Well…..

It’s not just Jack who has been a superstar recently, we have had five other nominations for a Thanks For Your Effort Award. They are:

Andrew Ralph and Marcus Bedford, RMX Relief Plant Manager and Area Fitter Northern Materials in Yorkshire.  A breakdown occurred on Thursday 20th September at Leeds Readymix Plant in the afternoon leaving the plant needing a major repair on the mixer door. They had a busy day scheduled for the following day as Fridays are generally busy. The team managed to source parts from Peterborough which were dispatched at 5pm that day. Andrew and Marcus, and a fitter from Youngs, stayed back and worked up until midnight ensuring the plant was running the following morning. This was a fantastic effort by all and really demonstrates the team going that extra mile to ensure CEMEX success.

Dave Davis, Asphalt Ops; David Tyghe, Ian Tyghe and Phil Repton – Team Asphalt Salford!  After the mixer input shaft sheared for the Asphalt plant mixer gearbox, Les Luxon had parts shipped up from GB Europa to Salford.  Dave came back late Thursday evening to accept the delivery for the repairs to be used the following morning – very early at 4.00 am!

All the team came in very early to re-build the mixer gearbox and fit new Labyrinth seals and mixer shaft bearing in readiness for a busy Friday and weekend work that may be required – thank you to them all for their exceptional commitment to keeping our customers happy!

Gary Johnson, Alan Woods, Frank Kehoe – Team Asphalt Docklands. Multipave (customer) have won a contract for surfacing train stations in the north west – at weekend and night time (restrictions on job).  The customer had deliveries on Sunday and increased volume by 100 tonnes at short notice. The team at Docklands did not have enough dust to cover the extra volume so they decided to send two of the delivery vehicles to Huyton Plant. They then got in their cars and drove the nine miles to Huyton, loaded the vehicles with dust and all returned to docklands where the dust was tipped into bays, and then put through the plant to accommodate the extra volume to the customer.

Paul Dale and Anthony Dale – Springett Asphalt Plant.  CEMEX have recently managed to secure more night work with Derbyshire CC over the past few weeks. Dove Holes had broken down around 2.00 pm on Thursday 11th October afternoon and could not carry out the scheduled 200t deliveries for Derbyshire CC that night to site in Chesterfield, starting at 7.00pm.

Fortunately for us, Paul and Anthony agreed to do an extra shift on top of the day shift they had already done and following swift teamwork and decisive actions from Aaron Mcdowell and Abbie Le Surf in Shipping, were able to arrange trucks to move the required material from Dove Holes down to Springetts and deliver the material to Derbyshire CC.

Steve Blay, Security Guard Thorpe. Steve has served the staff and visitors at Thorpe HQ and the UK Tele-Eye CCTV sites for over 20 years. That in itself is a remarkable achievement in the security industry where long-term loyalty of service to a single posting is very rare indeed.

Since the announcement of the sale of Thorpe HQ and relocation to Rugby, Steve has volunteered to remain at the site until the point of sale, putting the organisation’s needs well ahead of his own future and job security. Providing a continuous service to the project team and the purchasers alike, his dedication and professionalism in this regard is first class.

He has spent many hours writing detailed instructions for the new team and has spent 3 x 12 hour night shifts at Rugby with the new team to induct them into our systems.  I cannot commend Steve highly enough for his dedication and selflessness as his future is uncertain.
