Cemex UK was proud to be awarded Highly Commended in the Caring for the Environment Award from the Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants (WCoBM) 2025 Awards recently.

Livery companies are ancient trade associations and guilds in the City of London and with their roots going back to the 14th century, were responsible for regulating their respective trades, including controlling wages, apprenticeship, and ensuring quality standards. Today, livery companies continue to play a significant role in the City of London, primarily through their charitable endeavours, educational support, and social networking. The Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants (WCoBM) is a modern Livery company of the City of London and represents all parts of the industry, working to raise the profile of builders’ merchants in the City, highlighting their importance in supplying Britain’s building needs.

At the recent WCoBM annual City & Awards event, celebrating the achievements of rising stars in the builders’ merchant industry, Cemex was proud to be Highly Commeneded in the Caring for the Environment category. The judges commented: “Cemex’s excellent entry ticked all the boxes for the environment and innovation. Biodiversity is not only a feature of the company’s initiatives, it’s also built into its business planning. Cemex’s Future in Action sustainability programme demonstrated a clear understanding of the complexity of delivering a true environmental difference while its Water Action Plan attracted top scores for resource efficiency.”

Recent new member of WCoBM, Vicki Elliot, National Commercial Manager Cement, together with Criag Williamson, UK Director Cement Commercial, were delighted to receive the award at the event in March.
