CEMEX gets down with the skater dudes…

Saturday saw the official opening of the new Skate Park in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, which for Steve Gatfield, Cluster 15 Sales Rep, is home.

Steve got down with the dudes…

Steve picks up the story, “We have been supplying Maverick Industries a P450 Sprayed concrete mix for the project for a few months from our Luton plant. Maverick were commissioned by the local authority to design and build the skate park, and elected to use our concrete to complete the project. So I dusted of my Board, Hoodie and baseball cap ;-)and attended the grand opening, and was so pleased to see so many kids enjoying the new facilities, they had some pro boarders and BMX riders showing off, as you would expect as well, along with many other stalls and competitions going on.

I spoke with the Dunstable Councilor present and she said, she hoped the kids of Dunstable and surrounding areas enjoy the £250k development “for many years to come” and thanked us for our involvement.
According to a few “dudes” I spoke to, they reckon the Skate park is “sick”, which is precisely what I would have been if I even attempted to do some of the tricks they performed. The picture above shows a lad on a BMX and he’s only 13 years old!! Nutter!!

I thought this was a really good example of how our products are helping to shape our communities, and providing something like this for the youth of today (who generally get bad press). A great example of CEMEX being ‘Sick for Communities’!
