Huge congratulations to David Heathcote for completing the world duathlon and triathlon finals in Mexico. He had a fantastic time and recording the fastest bike time and being the 3rd British finisher, coming 27th overall in the triathlon.
David takes up the story: “The swim was tough with the strong north to south sea current and the run was also tough with temperatures in the 30s and humidity at 92%!! Just standing still you sweated buckets!
The island of Cozumel itself is the most beautiful place and the most bike friendly country I’ve ever seen! I’ve also experienced amazing things such as reef diving and seeing the millions of fish including sharks and Barracuda!
I also did conservation work with the local park rangers rescuing baby Loggerhead Turtles, and also came nose to nose with a huge crocodile.
I’d like to thank CEMEX and also contract companies: Balfe Builders and MH Site Services for their very generous sponsorship. Also, all the CEMEX staff who have assisted and encouraged me every step of the way. It’s been a real team effort!
Whilst I was out in Mexico I was confirmed to represent Great Britain in the European finals in Kitzbuhel, Austria next year. The adventure continues…”
Well done David, we are all really proud of your achievements.
