East Leake Quarry Bee-eaters Feature On BBC Autumnwatch

Following filming in the summer at East Leake Quarry, the BBC 2 programme, Autumnwatch, hosted by Micheala Strachan, included a long feature showing footage of the seven very rare Bee-eaters which nested at the Quarry this year.

The photography of these exquisite birds was amazing to see, including the typical behaviour of breaking off the bee-sting on a branch before swallowing the bee! The footage also included interviews of the some of the thousand birdwatchers which visited our site via a secure public footpath and viewing area, whose safety and security was number one priority for Alan Smith, Quarry Manager, and his team.
