In previous UK News stories we shared the planned fund raising activities of Matt Sumner and Reb Corbett. We now congratulate them both as they successfully completed their events this Bank Holiday weekend.
On Sunday 1st May, Matt ran the Great Birmingham Half Marathon to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society (read about it here). Having recovered from COVID just a few weeks before, Matt was delighted to finish in just over two hours – a fantastic achievement!
Matt said: “My legs are feeling it still today but it was well worth it, and I am very proud of what I have been able to achieve for such an amazing charity. Everyone has been extremely supportive and I could not have done it without all the help and motivation I received along the way.”
Matt’s colleagues at Rugby Cement plant supported Matt with a cake sale raising a fantastic £250 towards his fund. His total currently stands at an amazing £1,825 and you can still support Matt by clicking here: https://www.justgiving.com/Mattrunsmiles
Reb Corbett completed her 140 miles coast to coast bike ride on Sunday, raising money for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (read about it here). After completing the ride Reb said: “I am happy to announce that I successfully completed my Coast to Coast challenege on 1st May. The route took me over 140 miles with a total ascent of around 3,000m. Over £1,600 has been raised so far and counting. I want to thank everyone for the support and donations.”
