We are delighted to announce that Cemex UK’s Binley Head Office has successfully retained its Silver Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation for a further 12 monthsrecognising our continued commitment to improving environmental performance and embedding sustainable practices across the site.
Investors in the Environment (iiE) is a national environmental accreditation scheme that supports organisations in reducing their environmental impact while recognising continuous improvement.
The latest assessment highlighted several strengths within Binley’s Environmental Management System (EMS), including the use of Power BI and Sway to monitor resource performance, identify trends and keep colleagues informed about how everyday behaviours contribute to reducing our environmental impact.
The assessment also recognised the significant progress made in 2025, including:
- A 6.8% reduction in gas consumption following a review of heating and hot water timings, delivering both environmental and cost savings.
- Continued focus on waste reduction, supported by training, communications and best practice.
- A staff travel survey which found that 55% of respondents are open to changing how they commute, providing valuable insight to help shape future sustainable travel initiatives.
The iiE assessor also identified opportunities to further strengthen the Environmental Management System, including expanding the monitoring of waste volumes and business travel, and using data-driven analysis to support even greater environmental improvements in the future.
Congratulations and thank you to Natasha West, Facilities Manager & HR Advisor, the Binley Sustainability team and everyone at Head Office whose commitment and support have helped secure this achievement.
Together, we continue to make positive progress on our sustainability journey.
