On Friday team Middleton took to the Pennine way for their Lend a hand day and also had to help with a cardiac arrest. We teamed up with Jason from Telford Landscape contractors to carry out repairs to the pathways leading up to High Force waterfall viewing point. This work allows access for people of all abilities to the area of outstanding natural beauty.
However, after returning to work from lunch, a member of the public suffered a heart attack during his visit to the falls.
The team, Jason and members of the public all pulled together to conduct CPR, retrieve a defibrillator from the local visitor centre and guide ambulance crews and the air ambulance to an extremely remote location.
Unfortunately, the emergency services were unable to save the gentleman and he passed away at the scene. Andrew Hogg, Fitter, commented, “Despite the tragic events I returned home with a sense of pride that the actions of the team gave the individual the best possible chance at survival.
Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the gentleman.”
