Would you like to help encourage children and young adults to undertake more STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects and become more involved in these industries?
Become a STEM Ambassador and help inspire young minds, support their teachers and provide real world experiences and knowledge, in order to dismiss myths and misconceptions about our industry!
These are some of the things you might be doing:
- giving careers talks or helping at careers fairs
- help with site visits and open days
- providing real world advice or practical support to teachers in the classroom
- judging school competitions
- speed networking with pupils, parents and teachers
- delivering pre-prepared practical STEM experiments or demonstrations
- helping students with mock job interviews
- promote our industry as an exciting career choice
Current requirements are that you only need to attend/partake in one event per year, however, you may find you enjoy it so much, you’ll do multiple!
You can find more information in the download section of the UK News website from MP Futures, part of MPQC (Mineral Products Qualifications Council), and by visiting https://www.stem.org.uk/stem-ambassadors/join-stem-ambassador-programme.
We are in talks to try and organise an induction/training day at CEMEX House for those that would like to partake. We need a minimum of ten volunteers, but the more the merrier, so please don’t be shy!
If you’d like to get involved, please email meg.kardasz@cemex.com to register your interest.
