Paving Solutions Southern ‘Pitch’ In With Work At Wick Sports Club

A call came in from Wick Sports Club, who had partial funding to build a new MUGA (Multiple Use Games Area) on land adjacent to their football pitches.

The funding they had in place enabled them to create the foundations, edge the play area and purchase the asphalt material for the works, but this still left them short on funds for installing the asphalt to the correct specification.

After looking at the scheme with the Team from Asphalt it was agreed that this would be a worthy cause for a Lend-A-Hand and so they put together a surfacing crew made up of Gary Money – Project Manager, Steven Denmark – QS, Colin Jones – Estimator, Jon Legge – Site Manager, Alan Spencer – Coordinator, Andy Shield – Asphalt Commercial Manager and Jon Burton – Southern Business Manager.  They were also supported with some expertise by Alan Wheeler – Foreman, and his merry gang.

Jonathon Burton, Business Manager, takes up the story:  “The day did not run as smoothly as it could have done after we managed to sink one of the paving machines into the sub base!  But this initial hiccup was soon forgotten about and we all worked well throughout a long day to get the job completed and we have left a very happy sports club with something that will benefit the community for many years to come.”
