Congratulations to Paul Sammon who recently won Rugby’s Got Talent Competition run in the town!
Paul has worked for the company for almost 14 years in Logistics Admin and Raw Materials.
We asked Paul how long he’s been honing his singing talent: “I’ve been singing at local karaokes for about 14 years and love performing country songs with the modern Nashville sound. I just threw my hat in the ring on a whim for this talent show and lo and behold after singing live at the semi-finals in the week, I went on to win the overall competition last Saturday! There were 24 competitors in the semis and 8 in the final. There were mainly singers with a huge age range from youngsters to older than me.
It is organised by the local Rotary Club charity and funded through local sponsors and Rugby FM local radio. Jason Moss, their breakfast show DJ, hosted the final.
I sang ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ by Chris Stapleton to get to the semi where I performed ‘Makin’ Me Look Good Again’ by Drake White and then rocked it up on Saturday with ‘Sound Of Silence’ by Disturbed to win.
There is a £500 cash prize plus I’ll be supporting the headline act at our town’s Christmas Lights Switch on. Previous years have seen Paul Young and Pixie Lott performing! Clearly, I’m happy with the win and excited for any opportunities it may present as a result.”
Well done Paul – how about Britain’s Got Talent now????
