Rugby Golf Club Champion For The 5th Time!

Massive congratulations to Dale Marson, Small End Customer Team Leader at Rugby office, who has just won the Rugby Golf Club Championship for the 5th year in a row!!

Dale joined the club when he was only 9, and 23 years later is soon to become the youngest Club Captain next year!  Any budding golfers in the Rugby office should speak to Dale.

We asked Dale about his golfing career – he was a bit self-effacing about it, but we think it’s something to be proud of!

“My golfing career spans back a long time now. As a junior I won Warwickshire School Boys, Warwickshire Boys and Warwickshire Youths. I first started representing Rugby Golf Club aged 10 and Warwickshire aged 13 which peaked in 2004 when I actually represented England National School’s team.

Regarding the Championship, this is the most prestigious competition that a local club will hold.   It’s a 36-hole event played over one day.  On this occasion conditions were very challenging. I shot rounds of 70 and 72 to win by two shots for the 5th time in my golfing career – the first being back in 2004.

There is a competition which takes place off the back of winning the Club Championship which is called the Champion of Champions.   All the Club Champions across Warwickshire compete to become the ultimate Champion. It’s a new event and the last time I won the Rugby Club Championship I actually went on the win the Champion of Champions which was nice ???? so it would be excellent to do again, but you never know!”

So, for any of you who need someone to fill in on a CEMEX charity or customer golfing event remember Dale!!
