Peter Dixon reported this story from our Marine team…
Whilst on passage from St. Catherines to Clubbs, the Sand Fulmar was requested by Gris-Nez MRCC to investigate a possible sighting of a life-raft in the English Channel. Bob Hepplethwaite spotted it at quite a range and Ian Mackay organised the recovery. Thankfully the raft was unoccupied, and the crew assumed it was lost from a vessel and not reported.
The Fulmar continued on passage with no lost time. It was a useful exercise for all onboard and a valuable assistance to remove a hazard to shipping.
Details of the raft have been passed to Gris-Nez and the UK Coastguard to help find its rightful owner.
