Brighton Wharf (actually in Portslade) has been awarded Wharf of the Year by Wessex Archaeology for the teams commitment to the protocol of archaeology finds.
The team recently found a rare stone cannon ball which could have easily been just another oversize stone in the cargo, but keen eyed staff spotted the unusually round stone and informed Wessex Archaeology of the potential find. The team will be formally told by the BMAPA representative, Mark Russell, who will send their certificate in the post in due course.
