What a difference a day or two makes…Team Scotland Lend a Hand

Together with the help of John Smith and Neil Anderson, Linzi McDade, senior area geologist, organised an ambitious Lend a Hand day with a local Community Centre in South Lanarkshire.

The centre is run entirely by local volunteers. With a lot of hard work the Committee got the centre built and the result is a new, vibrant facility.

However, the centre had a problem with their driveway in that it was moss covered, slippery when wet and inaccessible in winter – even though it is a fire escape! This was where CEMEX could help! We block paved half the length of the drive to provide wheel chair access and the other half of the length was graveled. They also aimed to paint the perimeter fence and decking area. All in two days!

The project was very much a “Team Scotland “effort with participants from Aggregates Business, Concrete Products West Calder, Asphalt Business, Geology / Estates & Commercial teams from Uddingston – all participating over the two days.

John Smith Northern Operations Manager commented, “The Lend a Hand also gave us the opportunity to show and share some of our products on the day with the 50mm Readypave Sunrise Product from our West Calder factory being used to create the path and washed gravel from Hyndford being used as well.”
