On 1st May Kensworth Quarry, near Dunstable, UK, reached 10 years LTI & TRI free. This is a tremendous achievement, demonstrating that Zero harm is possible.
During the last 10 years, Kensworth Quarry has extracted almost 16 million tonnes of chalk and pumped at high pressure (1800psi) over 10 billion litres of slurry, a chemically controlled product, 93km to Rugby Cement Plant in Warwickshire. This has all been achieved with no accidents.
At the start of May the team gathered for discussions, lunch and cake to celebrate the success. They also took the time to reflect on the last decade, on the practices and behaviours that have made it possible, and to make sure everyone remains focused on our number one priority.
A huge congratulations to the Kensworth team!
