A ZERO Week But Be Vigilant

Whilst we maintained ZERO lost time injuries and recordable injuries last week, there were three incidents that could easily have resulted in significant injury. These included a buried electrical cable strike on one of our sites, a collision between a company van and a cyclist, and a trespasser who became stuck in mud during the very cold conditions and had to be rescued by the emergency services.

When considering these incidents, along with others we have already experienced this year, including a truckmixer roll over and a cut to the face when an angle grinder cutting disc failed, it highlights that just because we have started the year with ZERO ‘recordable injuries’ we cannot allow ourselves to become complacent for even a moment. It is important that we Step In if we see anything we believe may be unsafe… we may be preventing someone being seriously hurt, thereby looking out for them and their family.
