Please take extra care in the cold, slippery weather to avoid slips, trips and falls. We know from our history that this time of the year is the worst for slips, trips and falls.

Last week a contract truckmixer driver on one of our Concrete Plants in UK North suffered a cut to his head, which had to be cleaned and glued in hospital.  The driver was getting out of his cab to do his truck checks and, as he stepped down to the ground, his foot slipped on mud and he fell backwards, hitting his head on railings behind him.

An investigation is underway and a Safety Alert concerning the incident will be circulated.  In the meantime, immediate action has been taken to ensure the trucks are parked in a more suitable position on site, with better ground conditions.
