Two Safety Alerts were issued this week detailing the deaths of two employees within CEMEX who had been previously diagnosed with COVID-19. One was a colleague from overseas, while the other relates to the loss of Matthew Challenger from South Wales in December. Matthew tested positive for COVID whilst on holiday and passed away unexpectedly at home a few days later. As you will note, Matthew was well engaged with the COVID-19 protection measures and steps were taken to ensure suitable COVID controls were in place at the site where he worked. He is greatly missed by friends and colleagues.
Both Alerts stress the importance of immediate self-isolation and testing in the event of any symptoms and seeking out early medical attention where necessary.

No matter how well you may feel, or if you have had the vaccine, you cannot be sure that you will not transmit the virus to a colleague, friend or loved one, who may not be so fortunate should they contract the virus.
Please discuss these Alerts with your teams, reinforcing the need to look after ourselves and each other. They can be found in the download section of the UK News website here
Alerts should also be displayed as appropriate on site notice boards.
