Do you know the Symptoms of a Heart Attack?

The most common signs of a heart attack are sudden and persisting pain or discomfort in the chest that feels like pressure, tightness or squeezing. The pain may spread to either arm, the neck, jaw, back or stomach. You may also feel sick, sweaty, light-headed, or short of breath.

If you experience these symptoms, or others you are unsure about, don’t hesitate, always seek medical attention immediately.

Heart attacks are caused by the blood supply to the heart being suddenly interrupted. Without this supply heart muscles may be damaged and begin to die. Without treatment the heart muscles will experience irreversible damage.

If a large portion of the heart is damaged in this way, the heart stops beating (known as a cardiac arrest), resulting in death.
