Christmas can be a time when we make more road journeys with additional shopping trips, gatherings, parties and visits to see family and friends. Our roads tend to be busier places over this period and the wintery weather conditions can also bring additional challenges.
With an average of five fatal road accidents a day on the UK’s roads, the following video highlights the four main causes of road deaths in the UK, referred to as the fatal four.
- Driving at excess or inappropriate speed.
- Failing to wear a seatbelt.
- Distracted driving as the result of mobile phone usage.
- Driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.
We’d encourage you all to watch this video and think about the role that you can play in helping to make the UK’s roads a safer place. Watch video here: https://vimeo.com/1026086900/de7bbf9d7e
Please print the poster which you can find on the UK News download page: here and share it on your workplace noticeboards. A QR code is included on the poster, which can also be used to view the video.
Stay healthy and safe this Christmas.
