Expect The Unexpected

Over the weekend we learnt about an incident involving one of our competitors which, while not related to our operations, is worthy of note.  One of our Assistant Managers was following a tipper truck early on Saturday morning as it was on its way to collect material from the competitor’s Quarry, when the truck struck a pedestrian who we believe may have been asleep at the side of the road.  It has been reported that wheels on the back axle of the tipper went over the pedestrian’s legs as the driver tried to avoid the collision. Our colleague provided support to the injured person and the driver at the scene.

The incident is a reminder for us all to expect the unexpected while driving, follow the Driving Essentials, and ensure we are Fit and Alert at all times.  Support has been offered to our colleague after witnessing such a serious incident.
