Well done to Brett Burrows and the team at Leyburn for reacting to the poor weather experienced last week.
Flash flooding in North Yorkshire meant that 50mms of rain (the equivalent of one month’s rain fall) descended in one hour amid thunder and lightning. Bridges, roads and cars were washed away and Leyburn quarry was flooded to a depth of 1m in places.
In the aftermath the morning after, the site assessed the situation and took steps to ensure deliveries of asphalt and aggregates could still be made safely.
