Roger Taylor, Operations Manager for DSM, invited Essex Fire Brigade down to Braintree to look at our emergency procedures. Even though they were impressed with our preparations, they were able to offer some very good advice.

The Fire Brigade were able to update their reaction file on our site too, including where the gas oil was stored and how much, the whereabouts of propane cannisters and their size, traffic plans, key holders for out of hours, and positions of hydrants, etc.

When they discussed emergency retrieval from the top of the silos and confined spaces the Fire Brigade expressed an interest in completing a real-life exercise using one of our silos in the near future.
